The Office of the Provost named Brenton Kane as the winner of the Stan and Sandy Rives Excellence in Undergraduate Education Award.
Kane received bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Illinois State University and is currently pursuing a doctoral degree. After several years working on the East coast, he returned to Illinois State University in 2011 as an employee in University College where he worked within testing services and academic advisement. He joined the College of Business Academic Advisement Center in 2015, serving nearly 500 accounting undergraduate and graduate students. Additionally, he teaches Business 100 to freshman students ensuring they have an excellent start at the University. He has also developed a new orientation course for transfer students.
Known for his dedication, work ethic, and conscientiousness, Kane is a strong advocate for the students in the College of Business. He works closely with them to ensure they have the best possible learning experience and are well-equipped for the next step, whether it be an updated resume prior to a Career Fair or advice prior to taking the CPA exam. He thoroughly understands academics at the university and college level, and his knowledge positively impacts the students he advises.
Kane serves as chair of the Academic Advising Council and of the Advisor Mentoring and Connections Committee. He serves as the advisor to the ISU American Marketing Association. He has served on numerous committees and has been advisor to several registered student organizations.
