The Civil Service Council, the A/P Council, and the Food Insecurity Committee will host the Redbirds Care Drive-Thru Food Drive to support the School Street Food Pantry from 9 a.m.-noon on Saturday, April 17, at the Normal First United Methodist Church, 211 North School Street.
The School Street Food Pantry (https://schoolstreetfoodpantry.org/), which assists students who face food insecurity, serves about 90-100 students weekly. Those donating are asked to enter the parking lot off Locust Street, and to have donations ready to be removed from the back seat or trunk of the vehicle as donors drive through the lot.
Donations especially needed include: Canned tuna or chicken, spaghetti sauce or canned tomato products, pasta, rice, flour, sugar, salt, spices, salad dressings, cooking oils, gluten-free items, vegan or vegetarian items, shampoo, soap, deodorant, toothpaste, feminine care products, and cleaning supplies.
