On June 30, Dr. Daniel Wilson will retire from the Department of Technology at Illinois State University. In August 2003, Wilson was hired as coordinator of the Printing Management Sequence. Through his efforts, Printing Management became Graphic Communications and the curriculum was strengthened to include more emphasis on Adobe products, digital photography, and packaging. A capstone course was created to incorporate business practices. Students were encouraged to participate in the Phoenix Challenge, a design and printing competition for collegiate teams. Wilson also pursued a new accreditation for the program through the Accrediting Council for Collegiate Graphic Communications, Inc. (ACCGC). A multi-media marketing blitz for the program was sent out to high school and community college academic counselors. For many years, Wilson was also the assistant chair. As assistant chair, he was involved with gathering data for the Annual Report and Quality Outcome Reports. You will be missed, Dr. Wilson!
