Illinois State University’s Undergraduate Women in Economics (UWE) will host a watch party of the panel “Diversifying Economics: Moving Beyond the ‘D’ in DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging)” from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, February 24 in Stevenson Hall, room 401A.
The panel is part of the nationwide, virtual Women in Economics Symposium, held by the St. Louis Fed. The watch party is free and open to the University community.
Hosted by Dr. Tisha Emerson, a professor of economics at Baylor University, the panel will also include Marie Mora, associate vice chancellor for strategic initiatives at the University of Missouri-St. Louis; Stacey Vanek Smith, host of “The Indicator” from Planet Money; and Dr. Gail Heyne Hafer, professor of economics at St. Louis Community College-Meramec.
The UWE is dedicated to increasing diversity and representation in the economics profession and to fostering a sense of inclusion across the broader community of scholars. Students are invited to join the organization regardless of their experiences with economics. This group is inclusive; both female and male students are invited to participate.
