Honors
Thomas Hammon and Nicholas Rhoades, BIO, were part of an international team of scholars honored with the Cozzarelli Prize, an award that recognizes outstanding contributions to the scientific disciplines represented by the National Academy of Sciences. They were honored for a paper co-authored with scientists from the Institut Pasteur in France, and the University of Bern in Switzerland titled “Recombination-independent recognition of DNA homology for meiotic silencing in Neurospora crassa.”
Student Ian Freeman, PHY/MAT, has been named a 2022-2023 Barry Goldwater Scholar. The award is one of the most prestigious national scholarships in the fields of STEM.

Przybylo also co-published “Ageing Asexually: Exploring Desexualisation and Ageing Intimacies” in Sex & Diversity in Later Life.
Ali Riaz, POL, published two research reports on the extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearances in Bangladesh. “Executions at Will? Extrajudicial killings by state actors in Bangladesh” and “Where are they? Enforced Disappearances in Bangladesh” for the Bangladeshi think tank, Centre for Governance Studies (CGS).
