The Illinois State University String Project is offering summer camp on August 1-5. The String Project Summer Camp is a community program for violin, viola, cello, and bass students entering fourth through eighth grade. Students should have at least one year of playing experience. Each day will feature lessons and coaching by Illinois State faculty members and college teaching assistants, and group orchestra and musicianship classes.
The camp begins at 8:30 a.m. each day and concludes at noon. Classes will be held in Cook Hall on the Illinois State University campus. Following camp on Friday, students will present a concert in the Center for the Performing Arts, from noon to 1 p.m.
The cost of the 5-day camp is $190 per student. Students need to bring their own instruments. Music and snacks will be provided.
Limited partial scholarships are available; please contact professor Katherine Lewis if your child is eligible for free/reduced lunches.
The preferred camp registration deadline is July 1. Late registrations may be accepted.
