The Senior Professionals’ lifelong-learning classes are returning for the fall and winter in a hybrid format on subjects ranging from criminal justice and social issues, medieval history, food insecurity, and land conservation.
The Academy of Seniors classes begin Thursday, September 8, with the first part of a series titled The Debate Over America’s Role in the World. Other classes in the Fall and Winter semester series will cover historical analysis of law enforcement, climate and disease, lesser-known voices in literature, and food insecurity.
Mornings with the Professors lectures begin Friday, September 30, with a deep dive into the unexpected connection between steam power and climate change while posing questions about how we entered into our current fossil fuel age. Other classes in the series include the portrayal of Roman women in myth as well as their lives in the city, and the likely outcomes and consequences of the midterm elections.
A Classroom Journey bus trip will take place on Tuesday, October 11, with a guided tour of the Saint Louis Art Museum and Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.

Academy of Seniors and Mornings with the Professors are adult-enrichment programs sponsored by Illinois State University’s Senior Professionals organization. Classes are taught by professors from Illinois State University, Illinois Wesleyan University, and community experts.
