Illinois State University’s Center for Civic Engagement encourages members of the campus community to celebrate Constitution Day by taking part in the National Constitution Day of Conversation from 1-2 p.m. Friday, September 16 via Zoom. Registration is required.
Designed to reach across differences, this is a space for open discussion of the U.S. Constitution. This national, facilitated dialogue is based on the fundamental value of the pursuit of knowledge for the public good. There will be access to information about the U.S. Constitution and a Kahoot! game about the Constitution, but there is no need be an expert to enjoy this event and to share in the lively conversation.
Milner Library will also host an exhibit displaying panels of the Constitution on the second floor from September 10-18. Members of the campus community can also grab a personal copy of the U.S. Constitution when they are there.
Constitution Day is commemorated each year on September 17, the date on which the founding fathers signed the document in 1787. The United States Constitution established the basic framework of government, as well as the rights and freedoms afforded individuals.
Any departments or instructors wishing to distribute pocket Constitutions to their classes or make them available in the office should email Joshua Crockett.
