The Association of Residence Halls (ARH) is an overarching governing body that promotes student well-being within all on-campus residence halls. Josh Ririe, the recently elected President of ARH, believes ARH events are a great opportunity to facilitate meaningful student connections on campus.  “We have the budget to put on large-scale events that residents can enjoy,” explains Ririe. Ririe is from Darian and is a junior finance and economics double major.

As President of ARH, Ririe’s primary duties include supporting the ARH Executive Board and managing ARH’s day-to-day operations. “We have a lot of creative people on our board this year,” notes Ririe. “It’s my job to bring those ideas out of them so we can put them into action and get as much engagement in the halls as possible.”

ARH events range from personal development workshops to football tailgates and often feature unique experiences that help foster student engagement within the residence halls. “If you are [ever] bored and sitting in your room, there is probably an ARH event going on that you can attend,” Ririe jokingly explains.

With ARH’s commitment to making the residence hall living a welcoming and inclusive experience, they offer a variety of initiatives that aim to assist students. A major project for Ririe and his team this year will be to revamp access to recycling within the residence halls.

Students looking to get involved further with ARH can attend regularly scheduled general assemblies that are open to all students living on campus. At general assemblies, students can voice concerns and hear updates on various on-campus projects happening within University Housing Services and Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality.

ARH has several upcoming events planned throughout the semester. These include the Roommate Game program happening Wednesday, October 26 at 8 p.m. in the Circus Room, a Bingo Night in collaboration with ISUPD’s Community Engagement Unit happening on November 3 at 7 p.m. in the Escalante Room, and Inflatable Bull Riding at the Brown Ballroom in the Bone Student Center which is scheduled for November 30 from 5-8 p.m.
