Illinois State University’s Alumni Association understands that the core values of the University do not go unrecognized after graduation. To align with the value of civic engagement, the association is launching a new monthly series, #ISUAdvocate, sharing advocacy best practices, civic engagement happenings on campus, important news from experts on campus, and how alumni can stay involved while having a voice for their alma mater. This month the Center for Civic Engagement shares ways campus is encouraged to vote with some important information for all Redbirds.
Early Vote Day is the newest civic holiday, being held on October 28, 2022. The four civic holidays (National Voter Registration Day, National Voter Education Week, Early Vote Day, and Election Hero Day) run from September to November and are coordinated by several national organizations to encourage voter engagement.
Illinois State University’s Center for Civic Engagement is planning a rally on Early Vote Day at 11 a.m. at Milner Plaza. This rally encourages students to take advantage of the campus early voting polling places and to make their plans to vote.
Along with the rally, ISU will be hosting events where Redbirds can get more informed about the election, register to vote, and get election giveaways. From banner-making workshops to campus-community Deliberative Dialogues to information sessions, the efforts to get out the vote on Illinois State University’s campus are making a #RedbirdImpact.
