How do you say Redbird in French? The Office of International Engagement hosted Ludovic Le Moigne and his family for a special visit during Homecoming week. He may have only spent one semester at Illinois State University, but Le Moigne will forever be a Redbird.
Le Moigne came to Illinois State as an exchange student from France’s Ecole SupĂ©rieure d`Angers in Spring 1999. It took 23 years but he was finally able to return to Illinois and show his mother, wife, and two daughters the campus that left a lasting memory.
He returned to Illinois State University as part of a family holiday trip that included him running the Chicago Marathon. While on campus he saw familiar places that have been updated like Hancock Stadium and Bone Student Center. He was also surprised to see the Student Fitness Center in place of the Atkin-Colby Residence Hall that he called home for a semester.
Le Moigne reminisced on his time in the International House in Atkin-Colby with great fondness. He explained that at that time all the international students were living in one space and got together for activities and programs often.
The Department of Agriculture welcomed Le Moigne and his family to Ropp Agriculture Building for a tour before they visited the campus bookstore for Redbird attire. The day ended with lunch at Watterson Dining Commons with current French students and Office of International Engagement staff.
