Honors
Several Illinois State University faculty and staff were nominated for the YWCA McLean County Women of Distinction awards, which honor women who are trailblazers in their professions, and pathfinders for social justice. Nominees included Victoria Harris, ENG emerita; Angell Howard, Division of Student Affairs; Rocío Rivadeneyra, College of Arts and Sciences dean’s office; Elisabeth Reed, Office of Sustainability; and Diane Zosky, College of Arts and Sciences dean’s office.
Presentations
T.Y. Wang, POL, presented “Strategic Ambiguity or Strategic Clarity: China’s Rise and U.S. Policy toward the Taiwan Issue” at the International Conference on Security Alignments in the Indo-Pacific at University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand.
Publications
Rajeev Goel, ECO, co-authored a book chapter, “Factors facilitating the inventing academics’ transition from nascent entrepreneurs to business owners,” in the Handbook of Technology Transfer.
Michael Hendricks, POL, co-authored the book The Roots of Engagement: Understanding Opposition and Support for Resource Extraction with Oxford University Press.
Ali Riaz, POL, published the article “What Role for Intellectuals in Autocratic Era” for the newspaper New Age. Riaz also penned “Democratic Erosion in Comparative Contexts: Evidence from Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, and Pakistan” with alum Sohel Rana ’21 in the Journal of Governance, Security & Development.
