A watch party for the live television broadcast of a gubernatorial debate between Democratic Governor JB Pritzker and Republican challenger Darren Bailey will be Thursday, October 6 in the Brown Ballroom of the Bone Student Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the debate beginning at 7 p.m.
Seats are on a first-come basis for current Illinois State students, faculty, and staff. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and will include information on what to look for in a debate, interactive activities during the debate, and a panel of speakers to reflect upon the debate.
The watch party is sponsored by Illinois State University’s Office of the President, Forensics Union, Center for Civic Engagement, School of Communications, Student Government Association, and the Department of Politics and Government.

The debate will be hosted by Nexstar Media Group and presented by AARP and Illinois State University. The event will be televised live on Nexstar affiliates throughout the state including Central Illinois’ WMBD-TV, radio broadcast on NPR affiliates WGLT and WCBU, and will be covered by La Voz, the Spanish-language section of the Chicago Sun-Times.
