Nominations for the 2023 Civic Engagement Fellowship open November 15 and close December 15. The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) began the Civic Engagement Fellowship program this year. One faculty/staff fellow will be selected. Undergraduate students may apply for the Student Civic Engagement Fellowship.
Dr. Meghan Leonard, Department of Politics and Government, was named the 2022 Electoral Engagement Fellow, and Dr. Joseph Zompetti, School of Communication, the 2022 Civic & Digital Literacy Fellow. Student Michael Severino received the Student Civic Engagement Fellowship.
“We are excited to be able to offer these fellowships, which give faculty and students the chance to engage in research related to civic education and to use that knowledge to enhance students’ civic competency,” said Dr. Katy Strzepek, director of CCE. “Our civic engagement faculty and student fellows create curricular and co-curricular resources that ensure that civic engagement is an integral part of a student’s experience at Illinois State University.”
The faculty/staff fellowship is open to any Illinois State employee classified as tenured or tenure-track faculty, non-tenure track faculty, administrative professional exempt, or civil service exempt. Fellowships will run from February 1-December 31, 2023. Compensation will be $4,500 awarded in monthly installments as additional pay.
The student fellow will be compensated at an hourly wage of $15 per hour for up to five hours per week. The fellowship will run from February 1 to May 12, 2023, with the possibility to continue in the summer and fall semesters.
