The School of Information Technology welcomes new faculty.
“We are so excited to have these faculty join us. They each represent a unique and valuable addition to our faculty,” said Dr. Traci Carte, Director of the School of Information Technology.
Dr. Nariman Ammar
Before joining ISU she was a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the UTHSC-OAK-Ridge National Lab- oratory (ORNL), Center for Biomedical Informatics, Department of Pediatrics, The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC).
Her teaching interests include software programming, software design, software engineering, advanced web programming, and data science & analysis.
Her primary research interests include designing explainable artificial intelligence digital solutions for healthcare using techniques from the data science and computer science domains, including data engineering, machine learning, graph representation learning, and data privacy.
Dr. Ammar is currently teaching Structured Problem Solving Using the Computer and Advanced Software Engineering.
Dr. Scott Overmyer
Dr. Overmyer came to academia nearly 30 years ago, after a decade in industry developing large-scale command and control systems for the Air Force and other agencies.
His teaching interests include programming languages, software engineering, database, and cloud computing.
His research interests include pathfinding algorithms for student career planning and 2.5D virtual worlds for teaching early lifecycle activities.
Dr. Overmyer is currently teaching Computer Organization, Structured Problem Solving Using the Computer, Hardware & Software Concepts, and Java as a Second Language.
Dr. Rudra Baksi
Dr. Baksi completed his Ph.D. from University at Buffalo, SUNY, where he worked on defense against ransomware during his graduate studies.
His teaching interests include Cryptography, Game Theory for cybersecurity, Cyber Defense, SIEM, Information Assurance, and programming languages. His research interests include defense against ransomware, prevention of cyber crimes, and preservation of privacy while working with public records.
Dr. Baksi is currently teaching C++ Programming, Practical Cryptography, and Trusted Systems
