Vice President for Student Affairs Levester Johnson announced that Dr. Andy Morgan has been named the new assistant vice president and dean of students at Illinois State University. Morgan will begin that position on January 17.
“Dr. Morgan will bring 25 years of higher education administration experience to our campus,” said Dr. Johnson. “His approach to student affairs and commitment to the University’s core values make him an ideal fit for Illinois State.”
Morgan comes to Illinois State from Indiana State University, where he serves as associate vice president for Student Affairs. He also served as dean of students at Indiana State, where he expanded student mental health and wellness services and worked to renovate the campus African American Cultural Center, Women’s Resource Center, Multicultural Services and Programs, and Student Counseling Center.
Before arriving at Indiana State, Morgan served more than 18 years at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale (SIUC). His roles included associate dean of students and coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life.
Morgan has been active with the Higher Learning Commission as a peer reviewer, the national board of directors for Gamma Sigma Alpha Greek Honor Society, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators, the American College Personnel Association, and the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors. He is the inaugural recipient of the Dr. Robert Andrew Morgan Alumni Engagement Award from SIUC.
Graduating from SIUC, Morgan earned a doctorate in higher education administration in 2014.
