Get your favorite siblings to campus for this year’s Sibling Weekend 2023, April 21-23, presented by Student Alumni Council.
This annual tradition has events happening all over campus. And that’s not to mention Gamma Phi’s big Spring Shows and carnival at CEFCU Arena. Check out some of the can’t-miss events below, and stay updated on the rest through the Sibling Weekend website.
Be sure to use #RedbirdFamily as you post, and share the memories you create with your siblings and family.
Gamma Phi Circus Spring Shows
The 94th anniversary of Illinois State’s Gamma Phi Circus highlights the weekend’s activities with shows Friday, April 21, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, April 22, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Regular-priced tickets can be purchased through the Redbird Athletics Ticket Office, online, or at the door during show weekend.
Sibling Carnival
Before the Saturday matinee, Student Alumni Council invites students and siblings to attend the ninth annual Sibling Carnival. This popular Sibling Weekend tradition is kid-approved and open to everyone who has a youth ticket to the matinee show. The carnival includes a variety of games, face painters, prizes, and fun for kids of all ages.
Association of Residence Halls’ Stuff-A-Plush
The Association of Residence Halls will be hosting a Stuff-A-Plush event on Saturday, April 22 at 3 p.m. in the Rosa Parks Room in Watterson Towers. This event is open to all residential students and their siblings. Join us to pick out a fuzzy friend, complete with a customized Sibling Weekend t-shirt for your new stuffed animal. First come, first served, as supplies will go quickly.
Redbird Softball
Redbird softball takes on the Northern Iowa Panthers all weekend. Take your siblings to Marian Kneer Stadium over by Tri Towers to cheer on the Redbirds. Games are Friday at 5 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m., and Sunday at noon. All are free!
School of Theatre and Dance’s Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express
Just after midnight, a snowdrift stops the Orient Express in its tracks. The luxurious train is surprisingly full for the time of the year, but by the morning it has one less passenger. An American tycoon lies dead in his compartment, stabbed eight times, his door locked from the inside. Isolated and with a killer amongst them, the passengers rely on detective Hercule Poirot to identify the murderer—in case he or she decides to strike again.
Head to the Center for the Performing Arts on April 21 or 22 for a 7:30 p.m. show performed by talented Redbirds. Tickets are $12-$17 and available through GoRedbirds.com/Tickets or at the Center for the Performing Arts Box Office.
