This month readers can get to know Cheryl Fogler, assistant director of planning for Planning, Research, and Policy Analysis.
As assistant director of planning, what are your job responsibilities?
This past year has been one of the most enjoyable and exciting years in my employment at ISU as I have been heavily involved in the coordination and facilitation of the University Strategic Planning process. This opportunity has allowed me to collaborate with colleagues in other University offices and begin to understand all the many interrelated facets of the University. I have been part of a wonderful team that truly cares about the University and the success and well-being of its students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, and community members.

What do you love most about working at Illinois State?
The University offers so many enriching and engaging opportunities. There’s always something to do at ISU that enriches our minds and opens us to new experiences. Whether it is enjoying good food and speaker at a cultural dinner, attending a theatrical performance, tailgating before a football game, or enjoying a family climb at the Student Fitness Center, you can always find something to do and someone to enjoy it with.
What is one fact about yourself that might surprise people?
I love Pop Latino music, and I stream it all the time.
When you’re not working, what are you most likely doing?
Working on my master’s thesis in history or working out at the gym.
What is your favorite spot on campus?
Redbird Plaza, it’s a great spot to relax and enjoy lunch or a good book.
