Discover your adventurous spirit this spring semester with amazing opportunities provided by the Adventure program. Activities include hikes, skiing, kayaking/canoeing, and a special trip to North Carolina over Spring Break. The Adventure program is here to provide the ISU community with innovative and exciting trips and activities every semester for participants of any level.

Our first trip of the semester is the Downhill Ski/Snowboard Trip on February 10 where we will drive to Snowstar Winter Park and hit the slopes. Join one of our Winter Waterfall Hikes on either February 17 or February 24 at the beautiful Starved Rock State Park. Other hikes this semester include visiting places like Sugar Grove Nature Center, Comlara County Park, and Devil’s Lake State Park. These hikes are a great way to take in the beautiful nearby scenery and meet new friends.

Don’t miss the unforgettable Spring Break trip in March to the Pisgah National Forest in North Carolina. We will be visiting the Appalachian Mountains for a multi-sport adventure. We will spend half of our time hiking up mountains and down through valleys to waterfalls. In between hikes, we will enjoy a wild ride down the French Broad River in whitewater rafts. Finally, we will spend another day rock climbing on a 600-foot granite dome. Register for the trip by March 6 and be sure to attend one of our mandatory Interest Meetings (January 29 or February 15) to find out more information.

The final trip of the semester will be the Sunset Kayak & Canoe Trip on April 27 at Evergreen Lake. This a great trip before summer arrives to paddle along the shoreline as temperatures cool, and enjoy the sunset while floating on the water before heading back to campus in the twilight.

“A new semester brings new adventures!” said Rachel Iversen, Assistant Director-Adventure Programs. “We have a wide variety of fantastic adventure opportunities for anyone to join.”
