Illinois State University’s African Music and Dance Ensemble will present an African drumming recital at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11, in the University’s Kemp Recital Hall. The event is free, kid-friendly, and open to all.
Organized by Illinois State’s School of Music, the concert will feature various forms of African drumming, dancing, and singing. The ensemble will also deliver some atenteben flute and adenkum gourd music performances and storytelling from Ghana, Guinea, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
Audience members will have opportunities to participate. This is the ensemble’s first major concert since 2005.
