Shot during her career as the senior photographer at Illinois State University, Lyndsie Schlink gives a glimpse into her world of photography in her exhibit View Finder, opening June 4 on Floor 2 of Milner Library.
These expertly selected images convey her compositional and framing skills, capability of storytelling through images, and practice of using minimal post-production image editing. While widely published in digital and print formats, View Finder presents Schlink’s work solely as individual, stand-alone photographs.
“As an alumna of Illinois State and senior photographer for nearly 11 years, it is truly an honor and a privilege to have an opportunity to showcase some of my most artistically creative photography at Milner Library,” Schlink said.
Milner Library is equally thrilled to display this exhibit and collaborate with Schlink, a staple of the Illinois State University community. View Finder, with photographs dating from 2012 to present, highlights Schlink’s background in fine arts and photojournalism.
Throughout her career, Schlink has conceptualized with university and non-university clients to determine the most creative and innovative approach to capture their vision for university publications, brochures, public relations initiatives, athletics, media relations, campaigns, and other purposes in various forms of media including print and online. A sample of print publications using Schlink’s images will also be available in a display case at the center of View Finder. The audience is invited to explore the differences between the images in the gallery and their commercial counterparts.
Schlink’s View Finder collection was originally displayed at the Joe McCauley Gallery at Heartland Community College from February 12–May 4, 2018. The collection has been expanded to fit the new space at Milner.
View Finder opens on Floor 2 of Milner Library on June 4 and will have a reception on Wednesday, June 13 at 4 p.m. The show runs through August 30.
