Harvey, directed by Robert Quinlan
The Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy by Mary Chase tells the story of Elwood P. Dowd, a kind and affable man with an unusual best friend—a six-foot, three-and-one-half-inch invisible rabbit named Harvey. Elwood’s sister Veta is worried that the rabbit will impact her reputation in the community, so she takes Elwood to the local sanatorium to have him committed. However, Veta is so frantic when she explains her brother’s condition that the doctor decides to commit her instead. Elwood walks out of the sanatorium, and a manhunt begins for this unique protagonist and his bunny companion. Harvey is a delightful exploration of non-conformity, imagination, and acceptance.
The performance begins at 2 p.m. in the Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $10 for students/seniors, $15 for adults, and $12 for Illinois State faculty/staff. The play is suitable for ages 12 and older.
