Progress continues on the Bone Student Center Revitalization. This week, the first-floor concourse and the new, front entrance on the east side of the building opened, as well as the exterior entrance to the Barnes & Noble at Illinois State University. The exterior staircase and ramp leading to Milner Plaza will open in September.
The second phase of the project will be completed this fall, with the relocation of the catering kitchen to the first floor and the renovation of the vacated catering kitchen to accommodate the Dean of Students Office. The campus community will continue to see updates to spaces within the Bone Student Center over the next year. The completion of the revitalization’s third phase is expected in spring 2020, which will include the opening of two new retail dining venues Timbers Grille and Star Ginger.
“We’re thrilled to bring Redbirds more dining choices, flavors, and experiences,” said Bill Legett, director of Event Management, Dining, and Hospitality (EMDH). “We hope the Bone Student Center will continue to meet student needs in a variety of ways, from study spaces and involvement opportunities to special events and unique dining options. We truly want Redbirds to enjoy the Bone Student Center and see the building as a front door to campus, welcoming all to Illinois State University.”
