Jeremy Kanter, professor in the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences at Illinois State University, will present the talk “Understanding the Longitudinal Course of Marriage: A Re-Examination with Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Couples” at noon on Friday, October 4, in Schroeder Hall, room 244.
In his talk, Kanter will discuss two areas of his research; investigating how low-income couples develop and maintain cognitive and behavioral components of their relationships throughout various stressors, such as parenthood and during the recent recession; and identifying interpersonal and environmental antecedents and outcomes of different relational experiences. Kanter’s research focuses on understanding quality, change, and stability in low-income, diverse samples.
