Distinguished Professor Ali Riaz was bestowed with an Honor Award by Weekly Ajkal, a New York-based newspaper. Riaz was recognized for his outstanding political analysis on Bangladeshi politics.
Riaz, who authored more than a dozen books and innumerable papers in peer-reviewed journals, also frequently contributes to Bangladeshi newspapers and has been interviewed by international media. His recently published book is titled, Voting in a Hybrid Regime: Explaining the 2018 Bangladeshi Election.
The award was given in a celebration event on the 12th Anniversary of the newspaper, which serves the Bangladeshi community in the United States. Riaz’s contribution was described as “exemplary” and “inspiring.” Grace Meng, the US House Member of the 6th District in New York handed over the award in an event on October 11.
