Annie Weaver is the recipient of a Living Our Values Award.
The Living Our Values (LOV) awards recognize individuals and groups that exemplify Illinois State’s core values of Learning and Scholarship, Diversity and Inclusion, Respect, Collaboration, Individualized Attention, Civic Engagement, and Integrity, as spelled out in Educate Connect Elevate: Illinois State – The Strategic Plan for Illinois’ First Public University 2018-2023. The awards celebrate the commitment to live the University’s values every day and strengthen the campus community by sharing those values.
Weaver serves as the coordinator of student volunteer opportunities for the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning (CESL). She was honored for embodying the University’ value of Collaboration.
Joining the inaugural team of CESL in 2017, Weaver has connected nearly 1,000 Illinois State students with community partners locally, nationally, and internationally with community service initiatives and on Alternative Breaks. Weaver emphasized the importance of building relationships with the University’s partners. “It is through those relationships that I find meaningful learning opportunities for our students,” she said, adding that she loves to “see students make positive changes both for the communities being served and in themselves.”
Prior to her work with CESL, Weaver served in the Dean of Students Office.
Weaver received a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University in broadcast and cinematic arts and theatre, and a master’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in counseling-student affairs. She is currently working toward a doctorate in the Higher Education Administration program.
Nominees for the Living Our Values awards can be any current Illinois State student, faculty, or staff member, or a group of people at Illinois State working toward a program or initiative that reflects the core values. Nominations can be made via the Educate Connect Elevate website.
