Midnight Angels: Aneka, Ayo, and the Struggle for LGBT Identity has been announced as the second panel of ReggieCon. The October panel follows the success of the September ReggieCon which included a surprise drop-in from one of the authors of Daytripper, Fabio Moon.
In recognition of LGBTQ History Month, the panel will focus on the graphic novel World of Wakanda by Roxanne Gay. The novel focuses on the relationship between two members of the Black Panther’s Security force and is described by the author as being a “Wakandan love story—its tenderness matched only by its brutality.”
Sponsored by the Office of Enrollment Management and Academic Services, ReggieCon is a series of virtual events held throughout the fall 2020 and spring 2021 semesters. Each event will consist of a panel of experts in comic and popular media and will focus on issues of race and diversity. Panel topics will align with national recognition months such as Black History, LGBTQ History and Asian Pacific Heritage Month. Dr. Scott Jordan, chair of the Department of Psychology, will be coordinating panel topics and guest panelists.
