Registration is now open for Faculty Prep Week workshops from the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology. These events, running from August 9 through 13, are designed to help instructors put the finishing touches on their teaching plans for the fall of 2021.

CTLT will offer the usual sessions on important teaching tools like ReggieNet, Microsoft Stream, Nearpod, and Zoom. In addition, instructors can participate in a number special workshops which examine critical issues in the classroom and in students’ lives:

Equity in the College Classroom

Discuss the foundations of inclusive teaching and how to create an “equity minded” syllabus which welcomes students and demystifies the learning process.

Communication and Teacher Clarity

Communicating expectations is critical to learning. Explore how instructors can plan effective communication strategies that promote students’ academic success.

These Are Our Students: A Panel of ISU Students

Better understand our students by hearing directly from them. This year’s discussion will include their insights about returning to campus after a year of remote learning.

The Safe Zone Project for Instructors

The Safe Zone Project is a nationally recognized open-source curriculum to promote the support and inclusion of LGBTQ+ individuals in educational settings at all levels. This workshop is based on that curriculum with a special focus on employing the principles of the Safe Zone Project as instructors, both in the classroom and in the design of your instructional materials.
