Thanks to some creative thinking within the College of Arts and Sciences, the students in the departments of History, Politics and Government, Criminal Justice, and Sociology and Anthropology have a new place to settle, study, relax, digest, and collaborate. Funds were secured from Academic Enhancement Fees to recreate and update a former underutilized computer lab. Schroeder 230 was re-imagined so that RSO’s, study groups, and individuals from either of the above-mentioned disciplines, will be able to utilize this graciously created and comfortable space. The Wonsook College of Art donated beautiful artwork, including three posters from Design Streak studio, to grace the walls. A handy collaboration station with a whiteboard and large wall monitor allows for group work. There are also two public computers and a U-Print station. Comfortable seating around the perimeter of the room pairs with plenty of convenient charging stations. A beautiful kitchen area is available for group events and personal use.
An open house complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and light refreshments will be held at noon on Monday, August 23, 2021, in SCH 230. Please join us for this grand opening celebration of the new Schroeder Hall Commons!
Room scheduling will be handled by each of the four main departments so please contact one of those offices if interested in reserving the room. This space will remain open every Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. and has the following amenities:
- Comfortable gathering spaces with charging stations
- U-Print Printing station
