The Illinois State University Planetarium will present The Stars Tonight at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Saturday, September 11. The program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited, so please arrive early.
The Stars Tonight explores the planets, bright stars, and constellations visible in the late-summer sky from Central Illinois. This live planetarium program complements a free outdoor stargazing session that evening, hosted by the Twin City Amateur Astronomers (TCAA).
The stargazing will be at the Sugar Grove Nature Center in Funks Grove. A brief astronomical talk kicks off the event at 7:30 p.m.. Stargazing will follow, weather permitting. There is no rain date. The ISU Planetarium is located under the white-domed roof at the eastern end of Felmley Hall of Science Annex, at the intersection of College Avenue and School Street, in Normal.
Free parking for the Planetarium’s weekend programs is available a short distance from the ISU Planetarium in the University’s red tag F-67 parking lot, located on the east side of School Street.
Following the latest CDC guidance and Illinois State University policy, face coverings are required in all University public indoor spaces. This includes the ISU Planetarium.
