In celebration of the Sugar Creek Arts Festival in Uptown Normal, the Illinois State University Planetarium will present hourly shows on October 9 and 10.
Free and open to all, the ISU Planetarium will offer One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure and Seeing! A Photon’s Journey Across Space, Time and Mind. Planetarium showtimes are:
One World, One Sky: Big Bird’s Adventure
Saturday, October 9 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
Sunday, October 10 at 12 noon and 2 p.m.
From China to America, Sesame Street‘s Big Bird, Elmo and their friend from China, Hu Hu Zhu, explore the night sky.
Seeing! A Photon’s Journey Across Space, Time and Mind
Saturday, October 9 at 12 noon, 2 p.m., and 4 p.m.
Sunday, October 10 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Trace the journey of a single photon as it is produced in a distant star, before travelling across the vast expanse of space to land on someone’s eye. Seeing! is narrated by astronomer and science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Following the latest CDC guidance and Illinois State University policy, face coverings are required in all University public indoor spaces. This includes the ISU Planetarium.
The ISU Planetarium is in the Felmley Hall of Science Annex, at the corner of College Avenue and School Street on the edge of Uptown Normal. The Planetarium entrance and white dome face School Street.
