Mennonite College of Nursing (MCN) at Illinois State recently launched a new B.S.N. to Ph.D. program and is currently accepting applications for fall 2022. This unique program allows students with their Bachelor of Science in Nursing to earn their Ph.D. in as little as four years, part-time online, and prepares them to pursue careers in research, education, and other sectors.

The B.S.N. to Ph.D. program consists of core courses as well as courses in research practica, statistics, and measurement. Students will perform dissertation work and receive mentorship from doctorally prepared faculty with advanced research backgrounds.

“The new B.S.N. to Ph.D. program further expands Mennonite College of Nursing’s offerings and provides a convenient and efficient avenue for nurses holding a B.S.N. to progress to their Ph.D.,” explains Dean Dr. Judy Neubrander. “As with all MCN programs, students can expect a quality educational experience led by expert faculty who are committed to their success. This program is a great compliment to MCN’s existing academic program and certificate offerings.”

“The fully online, mostly asynchronous nature of the B.S.N. to Ph.D. program and that it can be completed in four years make it appealing to students who are looking to fast-track their progress towards research and scholarly pursuits,” adds Dr. Kim Astroth, Ph.D. program leader. “Students are matched with nursing faculty mentors who help guide the student’s path to meet their goals.”

Applications for the B.S.N. to Ph.D. program will be accepted until July 15 for fall 2022 admission. MCN also offers an online Ph.D. program for those already holding an M.S.N. degree. You can learn more about Mennonite College of Nursing and all of its programs at Nursing.IllinoisState.edu.
