The School of Kinesiology and Recreation offers the Introduction to Therapeutic Recreation course (KNR 273) which is part of a national partnership to offer Inclusion U modules to all of the students in the Recreation and Park Administration (RPA) major.

The Inclusion U course provides a chance for students to become a Certified Inclusivity Assessor when they finish a 10-hour training online.  Instructional Assistant Professor Sherri Hildebrand is in charge of teaching KNR 237, a course in the Therapeutic Recreation (TR) program. With her years of experience in the field of kinesiology and recreation, she and her colleague identified that Inclusion U would provide a good chance for students to expand their skills in the TR program.

By partaking in the Inclusion U course, students become a Certified Inclusivity Assessor (CIA). As a CIA, students have the authorization to enter inclusivity assessments into the online recreation database and have access to Inclusion Ambassador Training. Students are also given an Inclusion U Online report card which includes all the documents, scores on their quizzes, and the final exam from the class. After the course, if students have interest in Continuing Education Units (CEUs), they also have a chance to earn 1.0 CEUs by gaining a certificate of attendance that verifies 10 contact hours of training of this course.

The School of Kinesiology and Recreation plans to continue this opportunity with Inclusion U in the future, based on the positive feedback that they have received from students.
