Congratulations to the Thomas Metcalf School students who participated in the Inter-City Honors Band and Orchestra Saturday, April 9, at Bloomington Junior High School.
Students were nominated by their teachers to participate in this special one-day festival culminating in an excellent concert Saturday afternoon. Guest conductors were Jack Ranney, from the University of Illinois (retired) and Stacey Larson, from Vandercook College. Both worked wonderfully with the students to prepare a concert that included challenging repertoire learned in a very compressed time frame.
Conductors expected a lot and got a lot of from students who played with heart and musicality with just one day of rehearsal together.
We are very proud of our Metcalf participants in these ensembles.
