Symphonic Winds concert September 17
Illinois State University’s Symphonic Winds will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, September 17, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for faculty/staff, and $6 for students and seniors.
The Symphonic Winds, under the direction of Martin H. Seggelke, will perform the world premiere of Flutter and Kick by School of Music faculty member Roy Magnuson, Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy, and Gloriosa by Yasuhide Ito.
Symphony Orchestra in concert September 20
The Illinois State University Symphony Orchestra will perform in concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, September 20, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for faculty/staff, and $6 for students and seniors.
The Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Glenn Block, will perform Claude Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun; Henri Tomasi’s Concerto for Trumpet, featuring trumpeter Amy Gilreath; and Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky (arr. Maurice Ravel).
Jazz Ensemble I
Illinois State University’s Jazz Ensemble I will perform at 8 p.m. Friday, September 25, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $8 for faculty/staff, and $6 for students and seniors.
Jazz Ensemble I, under the direction of Jonathan Beckett, will perform music by a variety of artists such as Herbie Hancock, Charlie Parker, Thad Jones, Count Basie, and Alan Baylock. Musical styles covered in the concert will include big band swing, bebop, Latin jazz, funk, and rock.
