Get a behind-the-scenes peek at Illinois State History history during University Archives’ open house days!

“Our open house will be a great chance for anyone interested in ISU history or archives to come see what goes on in the everyday life of the archives,” said April Anderson, university archivist. “You may have seen us at events with Hovey’s swords, but there is so much more to what we preserve and protect, and this is a way for us to celebrate and share our work with the community.”

October is National Archives Month, and the Dr. Jo Ann Rayfield University Archives is opening its doors on Monday, October 12, from 2–6 p.m. and Saturday, October 17, from 12–3 p.m., for everyone to learn how the archives preserves Illinois State’s past. Visitors will see the reading room, where research is conducted, the archives stacks, and where materials are stored, and learn about IRAD (Illinois Regional Archives Depository). Tours will begin every 15 minutes.
