Printmaking students in the School of Art will be displaying and selling their art Friday, December 4.
The 31st Annual Printmakers’ Exhibition and Sale will be from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Center for Visual Arts. The exhibition and sale is a great opportunity for campus and community members to see and buy original artworks in the form of prints created by Illinois State students, faculty, staff, alumni, and visiting artists. Hundreds of prints will be on display. Most prices range from $2 to $100.
All proceeds will go to support the Illinois State University printmaking program in the School of Art. The entire proceeds from selected items will be used to support the Printmaking Student Travel Fund, which encourages student participation in national and regional conferences.
A Silent Auction will also be available at the sale. There will be four silent auction pieces by Illinois State faculty and staff to benefit the printmaking student travel fund: My Very Best Advice by Sarah Smelser, Mr. Bad Ideas by Morgan Price, Conversational Flow by Veda Rives, and Congruent Idiom by Tony Crowley. Two silent auction pieces by visiting artists will benefit the Normal Editions Workshop: Skip Softly by Moonbeams by Academy Records (Stephen Lacy) and Just Follow These … by John Himmelfarb.
Winners of the six silent auction events will be announced at 5 p.m. and need not be present to win. Proceeds from the 2014 event that went to the Printmaker Student Travel Fund supported three students—Dylan Welch, Micah Zavacky, and Megan Hinds—to attend and participate in the Southern Graphic Council International conference held in March in Knoxville, Tennessee.
