Campus Recreation is offering two great ways to focus on functional fitness.

Learn how to train functionally and effectively with the Functionally Fit Program. Participants in this eight-week program will be coached by our personal trainers to develop proper execution of functional exercises that mimic the demands of the real world. This course will be offered on Thursdays, February 11–April 7 from 5:30–6:30 p.m. in the HIIT Zone, located on the third floor of the Student Fitness Center (SFC). Cost is just $35 for students/members, but participants must register by February 6.

The course will employ progressive training methods that allow participants to reach their fitness goals. It will also get them prepared for the Functionally Fit Challenge, which will be held later in the semester on April 16. This event will challenge all participants both mentally and physically. Grab a partner and meet the challenges of all three workouts. Teams of two will work together on a series of exercise challenges such as body weight squats, push-ups, burpees, lunges and more. All participants must register online or at the SFC Welcome Center by April 8, and the cost is only $5 per person for students/members. The top three teams in each division—men, women and co-ed—will be recognized.

“No matter what your fitness level, you will be able to challenge yourself and reach goals you never thought you could,” said Fitness Coordinator TJ Kuster. “All activities are meant to be inclusive, where just finishing is a victory.”

No matter if you are interested in competition or just learning about new fitness formats, these activities will provide a great way to reach your fitness goals. Grab a friend and start training today!
