Illinois State University’s Gamma Phi Circus will host its 2016 Spring Shows in Redbird Arena with performances at 7 p.m. Friday, April 15, and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 16.
Tickets are on sale now. All tickets are reserved seating, with lower/upper bowl prices at $15/$13 for adults; $13/$11 for students, senior citizens, and military; $10/$8 for children ages 5 through 12; and $5/$3 for children under 5. Group discounts apply for groups of 10 or more tickets purchased together.
Tickets are available at the Braden Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, on ticketmaster.com, by phone at (800) 745-3000, or at the door of Redbird Arena on show days. For ticket sales the days of performances, Redbird Arena Box Office will be open from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. on Friday, April 15 and 10:30 a.m.-7 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.
Before the Saturday, April 16, 1 p.m. show, there will be a pre-show children’s carnival that begins at noon with games and activities for all ages. Admission to the carnival is the matinee ticket. The pre-matinee carnival is sponsored by the Student Alumni Council.
The show is a two-hour performance featuring more than a dozen unique acts. Gamma Phi performers will showcase many aerial, acrobatic, and gymnastics acts commonly associated with professional circuses. Among these acts are Russian Swing, Wall Trampoline, multi-trapeze, high wire, unicycles, Teeter Board, German Wheel, clowns, and much more. This year’s show theme is “Around the World” and will feature the cultures and countries around the world through the eyes of circus.
“We are very excited about our 87th year of circus. We’ve got a great show in store,” said Gamma Phi Director Marcus Alouan. “We’ve showcased Chicago and Hollywood in the past two years, and this year, we are taking it global. We can’t wait to perform and give our audiences a truly memorable and unique circus experience.”
Gamma Phi Circus is the oldest collegiate circus in the United States and is celebrating its 87th birthday this year. Established in 1929, Gamma Phi is a leadership-based organization, dedicated to helping members grow as individuals as well as within the circus family. Circus members are expected to uphold the circus values: Commitment, Integrity, Respect, Courage, Unity, and Service. Gamma Phi Circus is a program of the College of Applied Science and Technology at Illinois State University.
