Running a 5-kilometer race can be daunting if you’ve never done it before. Getting your body ready for the race is half the battle, and knowing what to do can be difficult.
The good news is the Fitness program with Campus Recreation offers a specialty class dedicated to teaching you how to prepare for a 5K. This program will include an experienced trainer who will provide a guided program to get you ready for your next race.
The fee to participate in this course is $20 for students/members, and registration will end March 15. Participants will meet once per week and will be provided workouts to complete independently for another three days during the week. The class will meet on Thursdays from March 17–April 7 in the HIIT Zone of the Student Fitness Center from 6:45-7:45 p.m.
The entire program is designed for you to peak your training for successful completion of the Neon at Night 5K on April 13 at 8 p.m. This fun run will be a nice evening cruise through campus and is co-sponsored by the College of Applied Science and Technology. Register by April 11 for the race.
“The group setting is probably my favorite part about this course.” said Alana Harris, assistant director of fitness. “It’s really fun and motivating when you’re surrounded by others that are striving to reach their goals as well.”
