As the time to move out of off-campus residences quickly approaches, Leadership and Community Connections would like to inform students of the local organizations available to accept donated items. Instead of throwing items away, students may donate certain items to the following places:
Habitat for Humanity Restore
• 1402 West Washington, Bloomington
• Open 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
• Will take any furniture and small appliances
Recycling Furniture for Families
• 515 North Center Street, Bloomington, IL 61701
• (309) 829-6500
• Open 9:00am – 5:00pm
• Will take furniture and kitchen appliances
• If donations cannot be dropped off, Recycling Furniture for Families can arrange pick-ups with at least one week of notice. There is no fee for this service, but a donation is suggested.
Home Sweet Home Ministries
• 301 East Oakland Avenue, Bloomington
• Open 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
• Drop off location also available at First United Methodist Church, 211 North School Street, Normal
• Will take clothing, shoes, any media appliances, and household furniture
University Housing Services
• Vrooman Center between Hewett and Manchester Halls, 215 West Mulberry Street, Normal, IL 61761
• Open 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. the week before and during finals
• Will take clothing, small household items, and nonperishable food, which will be donated to the Bloomington Housing Authority
