Illinois State University wind ensembles will perform spring concerts April 17, 21, and 24, in the University’s Center for the Performing Arts Concert Hall. Tickets for performances are $10 for general admission, $8 for faculty/staff, and $6 for students and seniors.
Illinois State’s Symphonic Winds will perform at 3 p.m. April 17. The concert program will feature L’Inglesina by Davide Delle Cese; the world premiere of Michael Genson’s Anapæst; Mare Tranquilitatis by Roger Zare; and Jacques Ibert’s Concerto for Flute, featuring flutist Alex Clay. The Symphonic Winds ensemble is conducted by Martin Seggelke.
The University Band and Symphonic Band, conducted by Gavin Smith and Shannon Shaffer, will perform at 8 p.m. April 21. The University Band will perform Flourish for Wind Band by Ralph Vaughan Williams, Hugh Stuart’s A Hymn for Band, Leroy Anderson’s Bugler’s Holiday, Fusion by Brian Balmages, and Hosts of Freedom by Karl King. The Symphonic Band program will feature Jon Oliver’s To the Skies, Craig Fitzpatrick’s Leap of Faith, Contre Qui, Rose by Morten Lauridsen, and Satiric Dances by Norman Dello Joio.
Illinois State’s Wind Symphony will present a concert 4 p.m. April 24. The program will feature Darius Milhaud’s Suite Française; La Procession du Rossio by Joaquín Turina; and Adam Silverman’s Concerto for Marimba and Wind Ensemble, feature Ben Stiers, marimba. The Wind Symphony is conducted by Richard Scott Cohen, Andy Collinsworth, Christopher Unger, and Martin Seggelke.
