Students from Dunlap High School swept the regional American Chemical Society High School Chemistry Contest on April 15.

The contest, held at Illinois State University, consisted of a test for first- and advanced-year chemistry students and drew nearly 175 high-schoolers from Peoria and Bloomington-Normal. This is the 39th year for the Illinois Heartland Local Section of the American Chemical Society High School Chemistry Contest.

Winners received a certificate and a monetary award. The winning school, Dunlap High School, will keep the traveling plaques until next year’s contest.

The event was hosted by Illinois State’s Department of Chemistry, the Center for Mathematics, Science, and Technology (CeMaST), and the Chemistry Club, with additional support from the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry at Bradley University and the Illinois Heartland Section of the American Chemical Society.
