Erika Hunt, senior policy analyst and researcher at the Center for the Study of Education Policy (CSEP), moderated a research forum hosted by the Joyce Foundation for the release of a new study by the Illinois Education Research Council (IERC) of human resources management in Illinois charter schools. The study, “Laboratories of Reform? Human Resources Management Strategies in Illinois Charter Schools,” investigated how Illinois charter schools are leveraging the flexibility they are provided by law to innovate in the area of human resource management.
Also on the panel for the forum was Lynn Gaddis, president of the Illinois State Teachers of the Year, who shared lessons learned from eight case studies on teacher leadership in a report titled “Teacher Career Advancement Initiatives: Lessons Learned from Eight Case Studies,” and Ellen Sherratt, deputy director of the Center on Great Teachers and Leaders at American Institutes for Research, who shared the findings from a survey of State Teachers of the Year on the topic of teacher leadership in the report “Great to Influential: Teacher Leaders Roles with Supporting Instruction.”
