Campus Dining Services will host the ninth annual Local Foods Dinner from 4:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, at the Marketplace at Linkins Dining Center at Illinois State University. Students and faculty alike can come and enjoy meals made out of produce from the surrounding community.

Students can look forward to dishes such as heirloom tomato and caprese pizza, white cheddar macaroni and cheese, ice cream sundaes, and more. The night’s dinner is made possible by collaboration between the chefs at Linkins and local vendors, such as Huelskoetter Pork in Beason, Illinois, and Brown’s Fresh Produce Farm in Bloomington.

According to Executive Chef Matthew Horton, this event spotlights farm-fresh food. “The purpose of the Local Foods Dinner is to present many of the locally grown products available in our area,” he said, adding he hopes the event “helps to celebrate the local food economy, as well as showcase how talented our culinary team is at creating new concepts with unique flavors.”

Door-rate prices for dinner will be $10 for students and faculty. Meal plans will still be in effect and can be used for this event. Any allergy restrictions can be accommodated if necessary.
