A bilingual poetry reading from author Víctor Rodríguez Núñez and editor and translator Katherine Hedeen will be at 7 p.m. Friday, November 4, in the Publications Unit at 106 Williams Hall Annex, on the campus of Illinois State University. Núñez and Hedeen will read from their new en face poetry collection, tasks.

The book tasks was the recipient of Spain’s prestigious Rincón de la Victoria Prize in 2010 and was published in 2011. Holms Troelstrup, Publications Unit assistant director, will also be reading at the event, which is free and open to the public.

Hedeen will also give a talk at 9:30 a.m. November 4, in the Publications Unit as part of the Professional Speakers Series. The talk, “Beyond the Canon: Translating and Editing Other Voices of Contemporary Spanish American Poetry,” is also free and open to the public.

Hedeen is a Spanish professor at Kenyon College. Her work as a literary translator has appeared in some of the most prestigious journals throughout the Americas and the United Kingdom. She is a poetry editor for the Kenyon Review, an editor at Cubanabooks, and co-editor of Arc Publications Latin American Poetry in Translation Series, and an associate editor of Earthwork’s Latin American Poetry in Translation Series for Salt Publishing.
