“The phone call between President-elect Trump and Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen has disturbed the delicate relations between Beijing, Taipei and Washington,” says Professor T.Y. Wang from the Department of Politics and Government and an expert on East Asian politics.
Wang was interviewed by Radio Free Asia about the implications of the event. The complete interview (conducted in Mandarin) can be seen on YouTube.
Wang’s recent research includes a paper titled “Issue Ownership and Partisan Realignment in Taiwan: Preliminary Findings.” Employing recently collected survey data, the study examines how the change of issue ownership affects partisan alignment in Taiwan.
