The College of Arts and Sciences will hold its first 3MT competition at 3 p.m. January 20, in Stevenson 101. This will be a qualifying round for the university-level 3MT competition that will take place Thursday, February 23.
The competition will be judged by the six members of the CAS Research Proposal Review Committee plus Dean Greg Simpson. Dean Simpson will recuse from judging on the two PSY entries and Megan Hopper will recuse from judging on the COM entry. Evaluations will be based on a rubric mapped to criteria in the 3MT Call. We anticipate sending forward four nominees (rather than the three originally allotted by the Graduate School).
The competition is open to the public and friends/classmates and faculty members are welcomed to attend.
We have six nominees from our programs. Based on a random draw, the schedule of presentations will be:
3 p.m.: Explanation of CAS 3MT Competition (Joe Blaney)
3:05 p.m.: Erin Barr, HIS
3:10 p.m.: Matthew Drummer, CHE
3:15 p.m.: Jillian Joyce, COM
3:20 p.m.: Emilio Lobato, PSY (MA)
3:25 p.m.: Leah Cohen, PSY (Ph.D.)
3:45 p.m.: Winners Announced
Recall that presentations may not exceed three minutes in length. Presentations will end no later than the 3:00 mark via a stop watch.
Program Coordinators for these six should send me (jrblane@ilstu.edu) the one slide for the presentation no later than January 19, 2017.
