Every month the Administrative/Professional (A/P) Council highlights an A/P staff member through a series of questions as another way for the Illinois State community to connect. This month readers can get to know Angell Davis, coordinator of professional development and staff training for the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs.
How long have you been an employee at Illinois State?
I have been a student here for the last 11 years and worked for TRiO/Student Support Services for five and a half years and in my current position for a little over a year.
What do you love the most about working at Illinois State?
The thing I love the most are the people. I have made some amazing connections, personal and professional during my eleven years on campus. I also love that many of the staff here are also alumni. That says a lot about the institution.
What is one fact about yourself that might surprise other people?
I like to write poetry and songs.
When you’re not working, what are you most likely doing?
School work mostly while hanging with my partner and daughter.
What is your favorite spot on Illinois State’s campus?
I love the Quad. Not to be on it necessarily (have terrible allergies), but I love to see it full of students sharing in fellowship, laughing and enjoying life.
And just for fun, what do you think are the greatest and the worst inventions created in your lifetime?
Greatest inventions would be hip hop, cellphones, Chipotle! Worst inventions would be M.C. Hammer pants, hair crimpers and the KFC Double Down sandwich.
