Something very subtle and successful has happened in the Office of Admissions. Staff have implemented academic policies, created a system of partnerships, and established an outreach plan so effective that enrollment has shifted. Today one in three students attending ISU is a transfer.

Illinois State alum Allison Morgan ’21 has always loved science. Morgan has been apprenticing at Yew Dell Botanical Gardens near Louisville, Kentucky, since graduating in May with a degree in biology with a conservation biology sequence from Illinois State’s School of Biological Sciences. She had transferred to the University as a junior.
Illinois State University welcomed 3,374 freshmen to its student body for the 2021-2022 academic year. Total enrollment stands at 20,233.
After being away from campus for over a year, students officially came back for in-person learning on August 16. Students spent the 2020-2021 academic year distanced, virtual, and masked, but Redbirds are ready to return to a normal campus life moving forward.
